Dry Erase Board Wall
I didn’t know that Lowe’s sold ginormous dry erase boards for less than $20! Yep, an 8 ft x 4ft dry erase board. It almost feels like an entire wall in our kitchen because it covers the part of the wall that we can all reach.
We use it for so many things.
Drawing for fun
Meal planning
Leaving notes to each other
Today’s to do list
Math practice
Grocery lists
Playing tic-tac-toe, hangman, and other games
As an Among Us task (the kids play real life Among Us and one of the tasks is to draw an Among Us character)
Packing lists
Handwriting and cursive writing practice
The erase kept getting lost so I installed some magnets I found in some product packaging into it and now it always has a home.
Of course, I had plans to do a perfect mounting system, but one thing I’ve learned is that “Perfect is the enemy of good.” So instead I just used some plywood strips with a groove cut in the back of them. Drilling holes in the whiteboard itself would have also worked, but having a border does keep the marker off the wall.
If the board gets scratched it can cause it to swell a bit, but since it’s only $20 I decided we’d just replace it every so often; however, after two years it still looks pretty good.
With unlimited money I’d get a glass one as they wipe perfectly clean without Windex as well as being resistant to scratches. I’d also love to figure out how to make it magnetic.
